Garage Handing
How to ensure the correct garage handing is shown in Higharc, all the way down to Showroom and your plan images / PDF downloads.
Garage Handing is handled via a few parameters in Higharc to ensure accuracy and flexibility down to the lot-specific level —
The
Garage Handingattribute in Studio: This defines the “default” garage handing for the plan.
The lot-specific
Garage Handingsetting — this provides a lot level override to specify what the handing direction has to be for any Home Plan sitting on the lot
The
MirrorOption Set, which tells Higharc whether or not to flip a Home Plan to the opposite of the default garage handing.
The Garage Handing Attribute
This setting, viewable in any Studio document, answers the question of “What is the default garage handing direction for this plan?”. It is here so that no matter how you draw up your plan, you can ensure a correct value for garage handing direction.
Lot-Specific Garage Handing Override
At the lot level, you can override the default garage handing direction for plans sitting on that lot. It will apply to any Home Plan, regardless of which Studio Document it’s based on.
It will look at the Garage Handing attribute on the Studio Document, and coerce the value of the Mirror Option Set so that the handing is always correct. For example, if Studio Document A is set to Left, and the lot is set to Left, nothing is done under the hood.
However, if the two values don’t align, this setting can flip Mirror to true behind the scenes to ensure it’s correct in Showroom.
The “Mirror” Option Set
Note: Sometimes this Option Set is renamed to “Garage Handing”, “Garage Left”, or “Garage Direction” for more clarity for buyers and salespeople in Showroom.
This is a System Option Set that comes with every Studio Document in Higharc — it controls whether or not the geometry of the building is reversed. It can be renamed and adjusted as needed, but will always control whether or not the home gets flipped around.
FAQs & Troubleshooting
My Home Plan is flipped the wrong way in Showroom and/or Plan Set PDFs. What do I do?
First, run through the following and confirm that things look right. If your Home Plan is detached, be sure to look at the detached versions of the upstream plans to avoid confusion.
