Configuring Template Codes
Template codes are used to represent a portion of a larger builder code that can map to a specific option, such as the SF and WP codes above. Template codes are later concatenated to form a longer Builder Option ID, which can map to a corresponding option ID in an ERP.
If an individual option needs to be represented in a dynamic code, add the code snippet to the “Builder Template Code” field in the Option Inspector.
To add a template code to an elevation, open the elevation in the System Options section to find the Builder Template Code field in the Inspector.
Linked Option Sets
To generate combinations of specific options within source option sets, click the + icon in the Linked Option Sets section of the Explorer panel to open the Linked Option Inspector. Name the Linked Option, select the source options to link together and deselect any options that should be excluded.
Configured template codes will appear alongside each option for reference.
Set Level Linkage
If, instead, linked options can be generated for any option within an option set, select the option set in the Set Level Linkage section below.
Link Effects
Link Effects define the outcomes when Linked Option conditions are met. There are two types of effects available: generating a new option or modifying an existing one.
Generating a New Option
Selecting "Generate a new option" creates a new line item in the Home Plan CSV whenever the Linked Option conditions are met. This approach is useful when a distinct option needs to represent the specific combination in an ERP system.
Modifying an Existing Option
The "Modify an existing option" effect allows adjustments to properties of another option based on the selected combination. This effect requires two key configurations:
Target Option Set — Specifies which existing option will be modified when conditions are met.
Modification Fields — choose the fields on the target option that should get modified when the conditions are satisfied.
Price: When checked, the target option’s price will be set to the sum of the selected linked options.
Builder Option Code: When checked, the target option’s Builder ID will be set to the Option Code Format configured below.
Description: When checked, the target option’s description will be replaced with the description of the linked option.
Example Configuration:
To increase a porch option's price and change its Builder Code when combined with certain foundation types:
Select "Modify an existing option"
Set the porch option as the Target Option Set
Enable the "Price" field under Modify Fields
Enable “Builder Option Code” under Modify Fields
These effects apply automatically whenever the specified combination of options is selected in a home plan. Changes to the selected options trigger corresponding updates to maintain accurate pricing and codes.
Option Code Format
The final step in creating Linked Options is combining the individual Template Codes into dynamic builder codes for each Linked Option. To bypass this step, select “No formatting - enter codes manually.” Doing so will allow Linked Options to be generated without builder codes, which can then be manually updated.
To configure the order in which Template Codes appear in the dynamic builder code, drag and drop the Linked Options in the desired order. A sample of the resulting builder code will display below.
To add a template code component unique to the Studio file, click +Add component which creates an open text field. The contents of this field will be added to the builder code of options generated in the specific Studio file.
Once the builder code format and linked options are configured, click “Generate Linked Options” to create the options within the Linked Option Set and their accompanying builder codes.
Generating Linked Options
Once Linked Option Sets are generated, they can be modified individually similar to regular option sets. Click on an individual Linked Option to update its fields, modify its builder code or delete it.
Once satisfied with the individual options, publish the Studio file to make them available in Master Plans and Location Plans, where retail pricing is configured.
