Introduction
Home Plan Versioning lets you freeze a home plan's option data and pricing at a specific point in time. When a home plan is pinned, it keeps its option metadata (name, description, price and ID) from that moment—even if prices or option details change later in the Option Catalog or on location plans.
This helps you:
Honor originally quoted prices throughout the sales cycle.
Prevent pricing surprises for buyers viewing shared Showroom links or brochures.
Control when home plans lock to catalog data, using automatic rules or manual refresh.
Home Plan Versioning works with the Option Catalog's automatic versioning system. The catalog tracks changes to options, option sets, and overrides over time; pinning connects a home plan to those saved versions.
Pinned home plans maintain their snapshotted option data until a manual refresh is requested or the home plan is released from its pinning.
Tip: Home Plan Versioning is a Beta feature. Contact your Higharc account team if you do not see the Versioning settings or Refresh Option Data actions described in this article.
Accessing Home Plan Versioning
Configure automatic pinning (account level)
Open Account Settings from the builder dashboard.
Select the Sales tab.
Select the Versioning sub-tab.
Choose when home plans should be automatically pinned, then click Save.
Note: You need View Sales Settings permission to see this tab and Edit Sales Settings permission to change versioning rules.
View or refresh pinning on a home plan
Navigate to Locations and open the location that contains the home plan.
Go to Home Plans and open the home plan.
In the home plan highlights area, check whether Options pinned on [date] is shown.
To manually update pinned data, open the home plan actions menu (⋯) and select Refresh Option Data.
Understanding the Interface
Pinning vs. live option data
State | What the home plan uses |
Not pinned | Current option data from the location plan and Option Catalog |
Pinned | Option data frozen at the time of pinning |
When pinned, the home plan references saved versions of options, option sets, and applicable overrides—including data at the master plan, location, location plan, and lot plan levels.
Pinned status indicator
On the home plan page, a pinned plan shows:
Options pinned on [date and time]
This appears in the home plan highlights section alongside plan details like elevation and option count.
Activity feed
Pinning events appear in the home plan Activity section:
Activity message | Meaning |
Auto-pinned option data (showroom creation) | Pinned when a home plan was created via a public Showroom link |
Auto-pinned option data (sales phase entry) | Pinned when the plan entered a configured sales phase, or when a lot became spec/model (if configured) |
Pinned option data | First-time manual pin via Pin Option Data button |
Refreshed option data | Existing pin was updated to current catalog values |
Configuring Automatic Pinning
On the Versioning tab under Sales settings, enable one or more triggers:
Setting | Pins when… |
Home plans created via public link | A buyer creates a home plan through a public Showroom link |
Home plans in Plan Preparation phase | A home plan is in Plan Preparation, or is created while already in that phase |
Home plans in Pre-construction phase | A home plan moves to Pre-construction |
Home plans in Construction phase | A home plan moves to Construction |
Spec/model homes | A home plan is added to a lot and the lot is marked as spec or model |
Tip: Automatic pinning only runs if the home plan is not already pinned. If a plan is already pinned, changing phases or lot type will not create a new pin unless you refresh option data manually.
Note: Pins represent a historical snapshot. If a lot later changes away from spec/model, existing pins are not automatically removed. Use Refresh Option Data if you intentionally want to update a plan to current catalog values.
Recommended starting configuration
For builders who want pricing locked once a buyer engages:
Enable Home plans created via public link to protect Showroom-created plans immediately.
Enable Home plans in Pre-construction phase (or earlier) to lock pricing before permitting and construction documents are generated.
Adjust based on when your team considers a quote "final."
Refreshing Option Data
Use Refresh Option Data when you want a home plan to pick up the current option data and prices from its location plan. This will create a new snapshot of the option’s data at that point in time. The home plan will continue to not inherit any option catalog updates from its parent plan.
Open the home plan.
Open the actions menu and select Refresh Option Data.
Review the warning in the confirmation dialog.
Click Refresh Option Data to confirm.
Note: Refreshing updates pricing and option data to current catalog values. This can change prices on Showroom links and brochures already shared with homebuyers.
What happens when you refresh:
If the plan was already pinned, the existing pin is superseded and a new pin is created with current catalog versions.
The pinned date shown on the home plan updates to reflect the refresh.
You need permission to edit the home plan to use this action.
Releasing Option Data
Use Release Option Data when you want a home plan to pick up all changes to option data and prices from its location plan in real time.
Open the home plan.
Open the actions menu and select Release Option Data.
Review the warning in the confirmation dialog.
Click Refresh Option Data to confirm.
Note: Releasing updates pricing and option data to current and future catalog values. This can change prices on Showroom links and brochures already shared with homebuyers.
What happens when you release:
The pin is cleared completely and all option metadata is updated to the current state of its parent plan.
If the parent plan’s option data is updated, the home plan automatically receives the update in real time.
You need permission to edit the home plan to use this action.
Common Workflows
Workflow 1: Lock pricing when a buyer configures via Showroom
In Account Settings → Sales → Versioning, enable Home plans created via public link.
Save settings.
When a buyer creates a home plan from a public link, the plan is automatically pinned.
Confirm on the home plan page that Options pinned on [date] appears.
Workflow 2: Lock pricing at Pre-construction
In Account Settings → Sales → Versioning, enable Home plans in Pre-construction phase.
Save settings.
Move a home plan from Plan Preparation to Pre-construction.
Verify the Activity feed shows Auto-pinned option data (sales phase entry).
Workflow 3: Update a pinned plan after catalog price changes
Open the pinned home plan.
Select Refresh Option Data from the actions menu.
Confirm the refresh.
Verify the pinned date updates and pricing reflects current catalog values.
Notes & Best Practices
When to pin
Pin (or enable auto-pin) before sharing Showroom links or brochures with buyers if pricing must stay stable.
Align auto-pin triggers with your sales process—for example, at public link creation vs. at Pre-construction.
Catalog changes
Changes in the Option Catalog do not affect pinned home plans until you refresh option data.
Unpinned home plans always reflect current catalog and location plan data.

Troubleshooting
I don't see the Versioning tab or Refresh Option Data:
Home Plan Versioning may not be enabled for your account. Contact your Higharc account team.
Confirm you have the required permissions (Sales Settings for configuration; home plan edit access for refresh).
Home plan pricing didn't change after I updated the Option Catalog:
The home plan is likely pinned. Check for Options pinned on [date] on the home plan page.
Use Refresh Option Data only if you intentionally want to adopt current catalog values.
Ensure that the Studio doc from which the home plan is created exists in the Option Catalog. If not, contact Higharc support.
Auto-pin didn't trigger when I expected:
Confirm the matching trigger is enabled in Account Settings → Sales → Versioning.
Auto-pin does not run if the plan already has an active pin.
For phase-based triggers, the plan must actually enter that phase (e.g., move to Pre-construction).
Refresh Option Data is disabled or missing:
Confirm Home Plan Versioning is enabled for your account.
Confirm you have permission to edit the home plan.
Activity shows a pin but the highlights section doesn't:
Refresh the page. If the issue persists, note the home plan ID and contact Higharc support.
