Option Catalog (Beta)

How to override option data in mass using the Option Catalog.

Introduction

The Option Catalog streamlines the process of managing options across multiple Master Plans and Location Plans by consolidating all option data into a centralized Option Catalog. This feature eliminates the need for repetitive manual edits across individual plans.

Bulk Option Management consolidates all option data into a centralized Option Catalog, allowing you to:

  • View where options exist across all Master Plans and Location Plans

  • Edit multiple instances of an option simultaneously

  • Apply changes to all relevant plans at once

Accessing the Option Catalog

Finding the Option Catalog

  1. Navigate to your dashboard

  2. Look for the Option Catalog button

  3. Click to open the catalog interface

You'll see a Beta label on the Option Catalog while the feature continues to receive updates based on your feedback.

Understanding the Interface

What is the Catalog?

The Option Catalog is the layer of option data in the plan hierarchy that sits between Studio docs and Master Plans. It consolidates and deduplicates all options from all of your Studio documents into one location.

Key Concepts:

  • Catalog: a consolidated, de-duplicated collection of option data from all published Studio documents

    • e.g. the 10x12 sunroom that exists in the Orion and Polaris Studio docs is shown as a single line item

  • Usages: instances of the global options at downstream Master and Location plans

    • e.g. the 10x12 sunroom that exists at the Orion and Polaris at Autumn Ridge as well as the Orion and Polaris at Cottage Grove is shown as 4 different line items, one for each location plan.

Default View: Catalog

When you first land on the Option Catalog page, you'll see a label that says "Catalog"

  • This view shows all global options available in your account

  • Default columns include:

    • Option Set Name

    • Sales Category

    • Enabled Status

    • Studio Docs column

      • Shows which Studio documents contain the option set)

      • Links to the Studio docs containing the option

      • Multiple Studio documents may be listed for one option. Hover over the column to see all Studio doc names.

Tip: You cannot make edits from the Catalog view at this time. You must apply filters to get to the Usages section of the catalog, which contains Master and Location Plan level data. Usages allows edits.

Secondary View: Usages

When applying filters to the panel on the left side of the page, the contents of the table will reflect option Usages. Usages are instances of catalog options in Master Plans and Location Plans.

Search Functionality

Search Bar

Located at the top of the interface, the search bar allows you to search for options by:

  • Option set names

  • Option names

  • Option IDs

Search terms apply to both Option Sets and Options tabs, so you can toggle freely between them.

Tip: To search for an option by its Sales Category, use Filters, not search (described below).

Filtering Options

The filter sidebar on the left provides multiple ways to narrow down your results. All filters support a search and the ability to multi-select by holding shift.

Standard Filters

By Plan Level:

  • Master Plans – Multi-select master plans

  • Divisions – Filter by division

  • Communities – Filter by community

  • Phases – Filter by phase

Advanced Filters

Expand the Advanced Search section for additional filtering options.

Result Types:

Choose what type of records to display:

  • Auto Select (default) – Selects type automatically based on search results

  • Master Plans – Shows only master plan results

  • Location Plans – Shows only location plan results. Choose this option when making edits to location plan level data.

  • Locations – Shows location-level records across all location plans available at selected locations. Does not allow edits.

Overrides Only:

  • Toggle this option to show only options/option sets with overrides

  • Override badge appears in the Overrides column showing number of overridden fields

  • Hover over badge to see which fields are overridden and what their original values are

Include Children:

  • Includes option data of a location’s child records

    • E.g. When selecting “North” as a Division filter, this toggle will allow viewing/editing of option data tied to communities in the North Division

Enabled/Disabled Toggle:

  • View only enabled options

  • View only disabled options

  • Default shows both

Base Options Only:

  • Available in Options view only

  • Filters to show only options marked as base within their option set

Sales Categories:

  • Search for and select one or more sales categories

  • Results show only options tied to selected categories

Option Set Type:

  • Standard Options – Regular option sets

  • Linked Options – Option sets created by combining options from multiple Studio documents into a single set

  • System Options – Interior and exterior palettes, mirror options, and elevations

Tip: To ensure precision in the search results, start by applying all relevant filters and then entering a search term.

For example, when searching for Palettes:

  1. Select relevant Master or Location plan filters

  2. Select relevant palette-related sales category filters

  3. Type in the name of the palettes to be modified in the Search bar

Warning: Without first applying filters, entering “Palettes” into the search bar will present everything that matches “Palettes” and you will not be able to then search for the name of the specific palette options you want to modify.

Understanding Overrides

Overrides are changes made to option data at Master or Location Plan levels that differ from how they are set up in Studio. Changes made in the Option Catalog generate overrides because they are applied at these downstream plans, not at Studio docs.

Viewing Overrides

Available in Usages view only

  • Override badge shows number of overridden fields.

  • Hover over badge to see which fields have overrides.

  • Expand option set to see override details for individual options.

  • Override details contain original values and value of override.

  • Click “Clear Overrides” to discard an override on a specific field.

CSV Export

Exports exactly what you see on screen to a CSV file.

How to Export:

  1. Apply filters to show the desired data.

  2. Show or hide columns using the column picker (ellipsis icon) to control which fields are included.

  3. Click the Export CSV button at the top of the table.

  4. The export runs as a background job — the button will be disabled while it processes.

  5. When complete, the file downloads automatically to your browser.

The export includes all currently visible columns. No separate field-selection step is needed beyond the normal column show/hide controls.

Bulk Edit Workflow

Bulk Editing allows many options or option sets to be edited simultaneously across many Master or Location plans at once. Edits generate overrides which apply to the selected Master and Location Plans and any plans that inherit from them. For example, bulk edits made to a Division Plan apply to its child Community and Phase plans through inheritance.

The bulk editing workflow is completed in 4 steps:

  1. Search & filter.

  2. Modify fields.

  3. Review/approve changes.

  4. Save.

Tip: Best Practices Before Editing

  1. For the most precise edits, start by applying a search and filter for the exact options you want to modify

  2. For bulk edits that apply to your entire plan library, select only applicable Master Plans using the Master Plan filter. Selecting locations is not necessary, as Location Plans inherit data from Master Plans.

  3. Hold shift to multi-select contiguous rows

Single Option Edits

Use this workflow to edit one option or option set at one or more locations.

Step 1: Find the Option

  1. Use filters to select the relevant locations.

  2. Expand Advanced Search and set Result Types to "Location Plans".

  3. Deselect "Locations".

  4. Search for the option/option set.

    1. Result: You'll see multiple instances of the same option—one for each location/plan where it exists.

  5. Click on the Edit button.

Step 2: Make Changes

For Option Sets, you can modify:

  • Name

  • Description

  • Sales category

  • Enabled/disabled

For Options, you can modify:

  • Name

  • Option ID (to match ERP)

  • Description

  • Price – Set a fixed price, mark price as TBD (displays a "TBD" label to buyers instead of a dollar amount), or clear an override to inherit the price from a higher level. Options whose price is controlled by a formula set in Studio will show as read-only in the catalog.

  • Enabled/disabled status

Sales Images

Each option can have one or more sales images, which display in buyer-facing experiences. To manage sales images for an option:

  1. Open the option's edit form.

  2. Click Add Image to upload an image from your device.

  3. Once uploaded, each image card shows:

    • A thumbnail preview.

    • The file name.

    • Image dimensions.

    • An editable description field.

  4. To replace an image, click the existing image card and select a new file.

  5. To remove an image, click the X icon on the image card.

Note: Images over 2 MB may be slow to load. Keep images under 2 MB for the best buyer experience.

Showroom Intro Overrides

Showroom Intro Overrides let you customize how an option appears in the Showroom Intro experience without affecting how it appears elsewhere. These fields are inherited from the catalog unless you explicitly override them.

Field

Description

Included

Toggle whether this option appears in the Showroom Intro. Grayed out if the option is the base option (always included), if the option set is excluded from Showroom Intro at the set level, or if fewer than 2 options are currently included in the intro.

Name

Override the display name shown in Showroom Intro. Leave blank to inherit the option’s main name.

Description

Override the description shown in Showroom Intro. Leave blank to inherit the main description.

Sales Images

Upload different images to use specifically in Showroom Intro. Leave empty to use the option’s main sales images.

Fields that have been overridden show an Override indicator next to the label. Click Clear override on any field to revert to the inherited value.

Note: When selecting different options, each with unique contents in their fields.

Step 3: Review

  1. Click "Review"

  2. System shows scope of proposed changes

  3. Review proposed changes, which are grouped by field

  4. Deselect locations that should be excluded from the update

  5. Optionally clear downstream overrides that may be blocking the change

Step 4: Save or Discard

  1. Review the proposed changes

    • Changes: Reflects all currently proposed changes

    • Downstream: Shows all downstream records, such as sub-locations, that may be impacted by the change

    • Blocked: Shows all records that have an override on the same field preventing the change from applying

  2. Click checkbox at the end of any row to modify the outcome of that change

    • Changes: deselecting rows will exclude the records from receiving the update

    • Downstream: deselecting rows will exclude those records from receiving the update and move them to the Blocked tab

    • Blocked: selecting rows will discard their overrides and include the record(s) in the update

  3. Click "Save All" to apply all changes

  4. Override indicator appears showing the change has been applied

Tip: Clearing Overrides Review Workflow

The Blocked tab shows options in downstream records that have an override applied. Normally, overrides at the lowest level of the hierarchy supersede any updates made at higher levels. The Catalog allows these overrides to be discarded in favor of new proposed changes.

Examples of when to clear the overrides (Suppose you have two Communities):

  • Autumn Ridge with Phases 1-4. Phase 1 is selling, while 3-4 are on hold.

  • Cottage Grove with Phases A-D. Phase A is selling, while B-D are on hold.

The new workflow allows the following results:

  1. You are disabling the 10x16 Sunroom in Autumn Ridge and Cottage Grove using the Bulk Edit workflow.

    • By clicking on the Downstream tab, you may deselect both Phase 1 and Phase A, which will prevent the 10x16 Sunroom from being disabled in the Phases that are actively selling.

  2. You have applied an override to the name of a kitchen option in Phases 2 and B to Upgraded Kitchen for both communities. You now want to change its name to Chef's Kitchen. Normally, the overrides at Phase 2 and B would block this change.

    • By clicking on the "Blocked" tab and selecting the two kitchen options, you may set their name to Chef's Kitchen.

Modifying Lot Option Templates

  1. Use the filters in the left sidebar to select the Locations containing the lots you want to modify.

  2. Select the applicable Master Plans. Selecting locations first narrows the list of available Master Plans.

  3. Under Advanced Search, set Result Types to Lot Plans.

  4. To modify specific lots, use the Lots filter to select their lot numbers.

  5. Click the ellipsis (•••) above the table and enable the Lot Number column.

  6. Find and select the options or option sets you want to modify.

  7. Click Edit, apply your changes, and review the affected lots.

  8. Click Save All.

Tip: Lot Option Templates do not currently prevent users from making changes on lots that contain a home plan in Pre-Construction or Construction stages, whether accessed through the lots table or the Option Catalog. To avoid unintentionally modifying these lots, either do not select them in the Lots filter.

Alternatively, reach out to your Account Manager to request access to the Home Plan Versioning (Beta) feature, which allows home plan option data to be snapshotted at a given point in time instead of inheriting all upstream option changes.

Merging Option Sets

The Merge feature lets you consolidate duplicate or redundant option sets into a single set. This is useful when the same option (for example, a "10x12 Sunroom") exists across multiple option sets that should be unified.

Note: Account configuration is required to use this feature. Contact your Higharc account team to enable merging for your account.

Before you merge: Merges are permanent and cannot be undone. Review your selections carefully before submitting.

Eligibility Constraints

Before starting a merge, note these requirements:

  • You must select 2 or more option sets from the catalog view to enable the Merge button

  • The base set (the set you keep) must have equal or more options than any set being merged into it

  • The sets being merged cannot share a Studio document — option sets that appear in the same Studio doc cannot be merged with each other

  • Every option in the sets being merged must be mapped to a different option in the base set — two options cannot map to the same target

  • All options must be mapped — no option can be left without a mapping before you can proceed

  • The default option of each merged set automatically maps to the default option of the base set and cannot be changed

Merge Workflow

The merge is completed in three steps:

Step 1: Select Option Sets and Choose a Base

  1. In the catalog view, check the boxes next to the option sets you want to merge

  2. Click the Merge button that appears in the toolbar

  3. In the merge modal, review the selected sets — each row shows the set name, option count, and sales category

  4. Click the checkbox next to the set you want to keep as the base set

    • Sets that don’t meet eligibility requirements are grayed out and cannot be selected as the base

  5. Click Next once you’ve selected a valid base set and at least one mergeable set

Step 2: Map Options

  • For each set being merged, map every option to a corresponding option in the base set using the dropdowns

    • The default option mapping is pre-filled and locked

    • Exact name matches are pre-filled automatically

  • Ensure every option is mapped to a unique target — no two options can map to the same base option

  • Click Next once all mappings are complete

Step 3: Confirm and Submit

  • Review the merge summary

  • Click Submit to complete the merge

    • The base option set is highlighted in the catalog table for a few seconds so you can locate it

After the merge, all usages previously associated with the merged sets are transferred to the base set.

Notes & Best Practices

Before Making Edits:

  • Always filter down to the most precise set of records

  • Verify you're viewing the correct Master Plans or Location Plans

  • Use search to find exact options rather than scrolling

  • Review the number of selected items before editing to ensure the scope of change is the expected amount (e.g. 30 rows instead of 3,000)

Using Shift+Click:

  • Hold Shift and click to select multiple contiguous rows

  • Verify selection count at the top of the interface

  • Use Ctrl+Click (or Cmd+Click on Mac) to select non-contiguous items

Catalog vs. Master Plan vs. Location:

  • Catalog = Global view of all options

  • Master Plan = Plan-level options (currently editable)

  • Location Plan = Location-specific options (currently editable)

Troubleshooting

Unexpected Results in Search

  • Reset search and try again

  • Refresh the page or clear cache

  • Double check advanced filters

Can’t Multi-Select and Edit

  • Check to see if the badge at the top of the page says Catalog or Usages

    • If Catalog, you cannot edit and must choose master or location plans using the advanced filters

  • Ensure you have master or location plans filters applied

  • Check the “Result Type” filter and change it from “Auto-select” to “Location Plan”

Can't Find an Option:

  • Verify spelling in search bar

  • Remove some characters from the search term

  • Check that filters aren't excluding the option

  • Try searching in both Option Sets and Options views

  • Ensure you're looking at the right Master Plans/Locations

  • Click “Reset search” and try again

Applied Changes Not Showing:

  • Refresh the page after saving

  • Verify you're looking at the correct location/master plan

  • Check that the edit was applied by looking for Override badges in both Options and Option Sets tabs

Fewer Options Than Expected in Search

  • Click “Reset Search”

  • Ensure the selected view is Options, not Option Sets

  • If searching for options belonging to a specific Sales Category, use the Sales Category filter first, then search for your option.

Selected Wrong Options For Edit:

  • Click "Review" before "Save All" to verify changes

  • Discard individual changes by deselecting checkboxes in Review screen

  • Cancel the edit and start over if needed
