Introduction
Custom Fields let you add up to five additional fields to the customer form that homebuyers fill out when saving a home on your website. This allows you to capture demographic or routing data beyond the standard name, email, and phone number.
With Custom Fields you can:
Capture lead-qualifying information (e.g., county, budget range, timeline)
Route leads to the correct sales agent based on their answers
Send custom field data to your external CRM via webhooks
Accessing Custom Fields
Navigate to Settings in the left sidebar.
Select Sales > Customer Information.
Understanding the Interface
Custom Fields are configured account-wide. The configuration screen shows a preview of your customer form with any custom fields you've added. A maximum of 5 custom fields can be created.
Field Types
Type | Description |
Free Text | A single-line text input for open-ended answers |
Dropdown | A select menu with predefined options |
Checkbox | A selectable true/false checkbox |
Radio Buttons | A set of options where the buyer picks exactly one |
Note: Removing a custom field will not delete data already captured on existing leads — but the field will no longer appear on new submissions.
Creating Custom Fields
In the Customer Information settings, click Add Custom Field.
Enter a Field Label (e.g., "County").
The field label is what will appear in the email sent for new leads and in the column headers on the Home Plans table
Choose a Field Type (Free Text, Dropdown, Checklist, or Radio Buttons).
If using Dropdown, Checklist, or Radio Buttons, add the available options.
Optionally mark the field as Required — buyers must complete required fields before saving their home.
Toggle Use custom prompt in Showroom to display a customer-friendly or extended version of the field on the form
Click Save.
Reordering Fields
Drag fields in the preview area to reorder them. The order you set here is the order buyers will see on the form.
Viewing Custom Field Data
In the Home Plans Table
Navigate to a Location.
Open the Home Plans tab.
Click the column visibility control on the table.
Toggle on any custom fields you want to display as columns.
Column visibility preferences persist between sessions — your chosen columns remain visible when you leave and return to the page.
In Customer Info
Open a home plan from the Home Plans table.
Click on the overflow menu and select Edit Customer Info.
View or edit the custom field values submitted by the buyer.
Customer Notification Emails
When a buyer submits the customer form, the custom field contents are included in the notification email sent to the Higharc user configured as the recipient of customer emails. This allows your sales team to see the lead-qualifying data without logging into Higharc.
Using Custom Fields with Webhooks
If you have a webhook configured, the custom field values are sent alongside the standard customer information, allowing you to enrich leads in your external CRM automatically.
For details on webhook payload structure and configuration, see Webhooks.
Notes & Best Practices
Mark fields as required only when the data is essential for lead routing. Too many required fields can reduce form completion rates.
For territory routing, a dropdown with predefined options is more reliable than Free Text.
Test the form on mobile and tablet to ensure all fields fit within the viewable area.
