Introduction
Community maps in Higharc provide an interactive view of your community's lots, allowing both your internal team and prospective buyers to explore available lots, view lot details, and start home plan configurations.
Community maps allow you to:
Display an interactive SVG map of your community's lots
Share a public sales map with buyers
Control which lot details are visible to buyers
Use a single map across multiple phases in a composite community
Accessing Map Settings
Map settings are managed at two levels: builder-level settings that apply across all communities, and location-level settings for individual communities or phases.
Builder-Level Map Settings
Navigate to Account.
Select the Sales tab.
Scroll to the Maps section.
Location-Level Map Settings
Open the location you want to configure (community or phase).
Click Edit to open the location settings.
Builder-Level Map Settings
The following settings are available under Account → Sales → Maps:
Setting | Description |
Enable Maps | Master switch for all community maps. When off, maps are hidden everywhere. |
Enable Public Sales Map Access | Allows buyers to view maps via a public link. |
Prevent Configuring New Homes in Public Sales Maps | When enabled, buyers can view lots but cannot start a new home plan configuration from the public map. |
Use Showroom Intro in Public Sales Maps | Displays the Showroom intro experience when buyers access the public sales map. |
Spec home name | Custom label for Spec homes on the map, lots table, and filters (default: "Spec"). |
Model home name | Custom label for Model homes on the map, lots table, and filters (default: "Model"). |
Location-Level Map Settings
When editing a location, the following map-related settings are available:
Setting | Description |
Allow lots | Enables lots and maps at this location. If disabled, lots and maps are hidden. Multi-unit locations always have lots enabled. |
Show Map Tab | Controls whether the Map tab is visible internally for this location. Does not affect public sales map links. |
Location Logo on Maps | When enabled, displays the location's uploaded logo as an overlay on the public sales map. Requires a logo to be uploaded first. |
Uploading a Map
Navigate to the location's Map tab.
Click Upload Map.
Select an SVG file from your computer.
The system validates the SVG to check that lot elements match your lot data.
Review any validation warnings, then confirm the upload.
Tip: Maps must be SVG files. Lot elements in the SVG are identified by their element IDs using the naming convention Lot{number} (e.g., Lot5). You can also include block and phase identifiers: Lot5_BlockC_Phase4.
Replacing or Deleting a Map
To replace a map, upload a new SVG file. The previous map will be overwritten.
To delete a map, click the Delete Map option in the map header controls.
Downloading a Map
Click the Download Map link in the map header to download the current SVG file.
Composite Maps with Phases
When your community is organized into phases (e.g., Phase 1, Phase 2), you can use a single composite map at the community level that shows lots from all phases together.
How Composite Maps Work
Upload a single SVG map to the community (parent location), not to individual phases.
Phase locations inherit the community's map automatically — they do not need their own map uploaded.
Lots from each phase are identified in the SVG using phase prefixes in the element ID:
Lot5_Phase1,Lot12_Phase2.You can also include a location ID prefix for explicit assignment:
Community{id}_Lot5_Phase1.
Viewing a Composite Map
At the community level: The map shows all lots across all phases. Lots from all child phases are interactive.
At a phase level: The same map is displayed, but only lots belonging to that phase are interactive. Lots from other phases appear grayed out.
Tip: Phase locations inherit the map from their parent community. You cannot upload a separate map to a phase that uses a composite community map — the map is managed at the community level.
SVG Naming Conventions for Phases
Use these naming patterns for lot element IDs in your SVG:
Format | Example | When to Use |
|
| Simple communities with no phases or blocks |
|
| Communities with phases |
|
| Communities with blocks |
|
| Communities with both blocks and phases |
|
| Explicit location assignment |
Lot Details on Public Sales Maps
You can control which fields appear in the lot popup when a buyer clicks a lot on the public sales map.
Configuring Visible Fields
Navigate to Account → Sales → Maps.
Find the Lot Details on Public Map section.
Check or uncheck individual fields to show or hide them.
Use the Select All / Deselect All checkbox to toggle all fields at once.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Note: This section is only available when both Enable Maps and Enable Public Sales Map Access are turned on.
Tip: These visibility settings apply only to public sales maps. Internal maps always show all lot popup fields.
Available Fields
Field | What It Shows |
Address | The lot's street address |
Lot Location | The location type and name the lot belongs to |
Block | The lot's block designation |
Lot Type | The type of lot (e.g., standard, spec, model) |
Lot Series | The series assigned to the lot (hidden by default) |
Dimensions | The lot's width, depth, and area (controlled as a single toggle) |
Garage Handing | The garage handing for the lot |
Features | Any features associated with the lot |
Available Plans | Which home plans are available for the lot |
Elevation | The elevation chosen on a home plan assigned to a lot |
Palette | The palette chosen on a home plan assigned to a lot |
Always visible (not toggle-able): Lot number and Status are always shown and cannot be hidden.
Map Filters
Both internal and public maps include filters to help users find specific lots:
Status — filter by lot status (available, pending, sold, etc.)
Lot Type — filter by lot type (standard, spec, model)
Area — filter by lot area
Depth — filter by lot depth
Width — filter by lot width
Plans Available — filter by which community plans are available
Tip: The Area, Depth, and Width filters only appear when lot data for those fields is populated. If your lots don't have dimensions entered, these filters will not be shown.
Filters control which lots are highlighted on the map, not which popup fields are shown.
Notes & Best Practices
Upload maps at the community level when using phases, so all phases share a single composite map.
Lot Series is hidden by default on public maps — enable it only if buyers need to see series information.
Review your public map after making visibility changes to confirm the popup displays as expected.
Troubleshooting
I can't see the Map tab for a location.
Check that Show Map Tab is enabled in the location's settings.
Verify that Allow lots is enabled for the location.
Confirm that Enable Maps is turned on in Account → Sales → Maps.
I can't edit the lot detail visibility checkboxes.
Verify that both Enable Maps and Enable Public Sales Map Access are turned on.
Confirm you have the Edit Sales Settings permission.
Lots from a phase are grayed out on the community map.
This is expected when viewing a composite map at the phase level. Only lots belonging to the current phase are interactive; other phases' lots appear grayed out.
My SVG lots aren't matching to lot data.
Verify that lot element IDs in the SVG follow the naming conventions (e.g.,
Lot5,Lot5_Phase1). The system validates lot matches during upload.
Internal maps look different from the public map.
This is expected. Internal maps always show all popup fields regardless of visibility settings.
