Overview
A Composite Level is an entity in Studio that combines multiple discrete levels into a single target for a plan viewport. Instead of creating separate plans for each level slice, you can overlay geometry from multiple levels in one view. This is useful for sheet types like townhome building strings, and foundation and framing overlays.
Creating a Composite Level View
To produce a plan that shows geometry from multiple levels at once:
Navigate to the Views tab within the Project Browser and create a new Composite Level by clicking the + button next to 'Composite Level Plan Views'.
Name both the 'parent' and 'child' levels of your Composite Level View based on its contents.
With the Composite Level selected, in the Inspector, click the + button next to Member Levels to add the relevant levels you want shown in the Composite Level View.
Repeat the above steps to create a Composite Level Plan View for each unit level your home contains.
Validate that your Composite Level Plan View is available to add as a viewport within the 2D canvas.
Displaying Composite Level Views in Plan Sets
To produce a plan sheet that shows geometry from multiple levels:
In Live Plans, create a new ‘Building’ Plan Sheet Template and add a ‘Plan’ viewport to it.
With the 'Building' Sheet Template selected, in the Inspector, create a custom 'Level' Parameter.
With the viewport selected, apply the 'Level' parameter.
Create a new (or add to an existing) Plan Set Template, and add the parameterized 'Building' Plan Sheet Template.
With the 'Building' Plan sheet instance selected, in the Inspector, and under the ‘Parameter Values’ tab, select the desired Composite Level Plan to display in the viewport - for example, Composite Level 1.
Validate this workflow by duplicating the Plan Sheet instance and switching to another Composite Level Plan View and confirm the viewport updates.
Filtering by Reporting Unit
Applies a filter to show individual unit plans within a plan sheet.
Create a new "Unit" Plan Sheet Template, or duplicate the full building Plan View Template, and with the viewport selected, in the Inspector, within the Building State Override section, choose which reporting unit to filter and display in the viewport.
Validate that only the selected unit floor plan displays in the "Unit" Plan Sheet Template.
Add instances of the "Unit" Plan Sheet Template to your Plan Set. Repeat for each unique unit plan and level contained within your building.
Note: Filtering by Reporting Unit requires that all units first have a Report Label created and applied. See 'Reporting Unit Designation' for more information.
