Higharc Release Notes

✏️ For Design & Drafting

Automated Dimension Modifiers (Expand Section for More Info)

What's New: You can now select, hide, and modify generated dimensions on Floor and Foundation plans, allowing you to fine-tune automated dimensions to meet your exact drafting standards.

Key Benefits:

  • Hide Unwanted Auto Dimensions: Easily suppress dimensions that overlap or clutter your drawings

  • Quickly create Manual Dimensions from Auto Dimensions, and fully customize their position.

  • Easy Discovery: Find all hidden dimensions weeks later with View Overrides - highlight hidden items in blue on the canvas and manage them from a centralized list

  • Time Savings: Reduce lot spec drafting time by avoiding manual dimension masking

How It Works:

  1. Select any problematic automated dimension

  2. Add the dimension to a new or existing View Override to hide it

  3. Optional: Create Manual Dimensions from the auto-dimensions within the View Override Inspector.

  4. Edit the manual dimensions - adjust position, modify properties, etc.

  5. See all hidden dimensions anytime by clicking the view override (they appear in blue on canvas). View Overrides can be created and managed in the Views Explorer.

  6. In the View Override Inspector, Apply the view override to one or many Views in your file, including those for built-in plans and manually created via Live Plans.

Available for: Built-in Plans with Exterior and Foundation Dimension Systems

The Details:

  • Every Automated Dimension in Higharc has a specific identifiable parent. These are exposed as Selectors in the View Override and Automated Dimension Inspectors.

  • If a user changes something about the dimension’s parent, a new dimension may get generated, and any saved action on the old dimension won’t render in the new scenario.

  • In this regard, it’s important to know that modifications to Automated Dimensions are only relevant so long as that particular combination of parents (rooms, edges, openings, etc) remains consistent. If you dramatically change the configuration, you’ll likely need to make new view overrides and or store additional dimensions via this process.

  • We recommend using the automated dimension modifier functionality surgically and sparingly to avoid complex scenarios. It is an ideal editing tool when performing final QAQC for a detached lot specific file, for example, though it can be very beneficial in many additional circumstances.
